What data Clinical Medicine & Research collects from Authors and Reviewers: 

Your name, academic credentials, contact information, including your professional position and affiliation, potential financial conflict of interest disclosures, and various metadata about your manuscript, including the manuscript files themselves is collected and stored in the journal’s author/reviewer database. 

We consider your submission and the information contained in your manuscript and cover letter to be confidential information and will treat it as such. We do send submissions to external peer reviewers, but request that they keep the information confidential. You may request withdrawal of your manuscript at any time by emailing [email protected]

How we use the data collected: 

For peer review and publication: 

We use the data to perform internal editorial review and external peer review of your manuscript. If we publish your manuscript, your name, institutional affiliation, and much of the material you submit with the manuscript may be made public. This includes disclosure forms, data sharing statements, and the research protocol and statistical analysis plans for clinical trials. We may contact you and your individual coauthors with questions about your submitted manuscript. 

For withdrawn or rejected manuscripts: 

If you withdraw your manuscript, or if it is rejected for publication by Clinical Medicine & Research, your personal data and manuscript will be archived in our Editorial Manager system. We may use your personal data to contact you in the future to serve as a reviewer for other manuscripts in your field of expertise submitted to Clinical Medicine & Research. If you do not wish to be contacted to serve as a reviewer for Clinical Medicine & Research, you must notify us by contacting us at [email protected]

For reviewers: 

We will provide the words in the “Comments to Author” box to the author upon making a decision on the manuscript. We may also include some of the comments from the “Comments to Editor” box if we believe they will help to improve the manuscript during revisions. Your comments may be edited slightly to improve tone, grammar and/or language. Your name and the majority of your comments to the editors will remain confidential. 

Contacting you: 

If you are an author, we will contact you from time to time while your manuscript is under review. If you are a reviewer, we may contact you from time to time to ask you to perform a review or to remind you of reviewing assignments you have accepted and approaching due dates. In addition, we will ask you to opt in (or opt out) of receiving surveys from Clinical Medicine & Research Editorial. These surveys help to gather information about your interaction with Clinical Medicine & Research as a reviewer or an author. You may request your account be inactivated at any time by contacting us at [email protected]

Marketing: 

We do not sell our author or reviewer databases and we do not share them with our publisher’s marketing department. If, as a consumer of Clinical Medicine & Research, you wish to opt out of marketing emails you should click the unsubscribe link provided in the marketing communication or contact us by email [email protected].
