Childhood Obesity. Studies indicate that one in five children in the United States is obese and one in three is overweight or obese. Obesity increases the risk of certain diseases, such as Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, and heart disease. Many of these problems had previously been considered part of aging.
